Art Silk is derived from Artificial Silk. Anything that doesn’t come from silkworm cocoon can be termed as Art Silk. Usage of art silk has surged in recent times because of cheaper cost of production when compared to pure silk.
Art are generally more slippery to wear compared to other fabrics. Art silk although distinguishable from pure silk, it is sometimes passed off as real silk to gullible buyers. One can perform a burn test to distinguish the two. Art silk smells more like paper when flamed.
